Here where I live in NC , my town issued a state of emergency . !st I ever heard of it . No guns or booze !
KING, N.C. - A state of emergency has been declared for the City of King due to Friday's winter storm, according to a statement from Police Chief Paula May.
The American Red Cross opened an emergency shelter at West Stokes High School at noon Saturday. A curfew has been issued from midnight to 5:00 a.m. until the state of emergency is lifted, and the sale of alcohol and guns is prohibited as well.
According to Duke Energy's Web site, over 6,300 customers are without power in Stokes County as of 2:30 p.m. Saturday, as icy tree limbs and a saturated ground caused many trees to fall on roads and power lines.

Residents in King were fumed over the weekend after a state of emergency declaration restricted the sale of alcohol and the carrying of firearms in vehicles.
King Police Chief Paula May said she’s received hundreds of threats related to the restrictions, which banned driving from 12 a.m. Sunday to 5 a.m.
